A complex issue for GESTAMP
In May 2024, Gestamp, a company specializing in automotive parts, contacted Keyence to solve a technical challenge: to implement an automatic breakage check on the collars of suspension arms on passenger cars. This control is essential to ensure the quality of the parts and prevent any defects that could compromise vehicle safety. Keyence, as an expert in measurement technologies, quickly began validation tests with LJ-X profilometers to meet this need.
However, Keyence knows that a 3D inspection system for automotive parts requires significant development to ensure reliability. Recognizing this complexity, the company decided to recommend CODA, as a Keyence systems integration specialist, to complement this approach.
Real-life testing and validation
After contacting Gestamp, CODA Systèmes carries out additional tests, at no extra cost, in its Paris laboratory to ensure that the equipment and its mechanical layout meet the customer's requirements. CODA Systèmes then recommends an on-site feasibility study, under real production conditions (presence of oil, particles, etc.), to validate the solution in Gestamp's specific working environment.
The study was carried out in mid-July 2024 with the active involvement of CODA Systèmes and in collaboration with Keyence. Together, they take part in setting up a test bench designed by Gestamp. The results are positive: although there are limits, such as the minimum size of defects detected or the possibility of confusing particles with defects, Gestamp accepts these constraints.
A sale made without negotiation
In mid-August 2024, convinced by the test results and the system's reliability, Gestamp purchased the equipment recommended by Keyence, without any particular negotiation. From the outset, the budget was clear, and the proposed solutions satisfied the customer in terms of quality and performance.
This Success Story highlights a successful collaboration between Gestamp, Keyence and CODA. Thanks to effective communication and rigorous testing, the control solution was implemented on schedule, without compromising on quality. Gestamp was able to benefit from a reliable solution, tailored to its needs, and without the need for commercial concessions.
